God's Not Fair - and That's a Good Thing!

Jesus tells the parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20. His conclusion is that "the last will be first and the first will be last." How can we learn from this story without "gaming" God?

Three Lines

Looking at Matthew 4:12-25, we see that as we follow Jesus, we can think of three lines of commitment. The first line is our basic commitment. This is when we say, "I will follow Jesus." The second line is our commitment to take up the life Jesus calls us to, to actually walk with Jesus. The third line is our commitment to take responsibility for others, to share Jesus with them.

Let's Party!

Humans like to party. In Western culture right now we're focused on the Super Bowl (today) and Carnival/Mardi Gras. When we look at the life of Jesus, we see a man who got in trouble for partying - and for partying with the wrong people. When we look at Jesus we can see hints on how we can party well.
