Called to Be a Servant

God calls us to have a servant heart. Whether we ever achieve honor, fame, and glory, we can have a part in God's action if we cultivate a servant heart like Jesus.

Called to Family

God's call is not merely about what we do as individuals. God calls us together to be his people.

Who? Me?

Examining God's call, we look at Gideon in Judges 6. I consider some propositions:
1. God calls all people to himself.
2. God's call is always an expression of love.
3. God calls people to accomplish his purposes.
4. God calls all Christians at various times and in various ways.
5. God's reasoning is different than our reasoning.
6. God's call is often unexpected.
7. It's possible for us to miss God's call.
8. It's possible to be used by God – even mightily – and still miss God.
9. We can be prepared to hear God's call.
10. God's call requires response.
11. Faith is the best response to God's call.
12. It's easy to find reasons not to respond to God.
13. God's way of calling now differs from how it worked in the OT era.
14. Position in the church is only one detail – and not the major detail – in God's call.
15. If you are faithful with a little, God will trust you with more.
16. God wants to call you.

The Context of the Call

God's action in history is the context of our call. Jesus' resurrection is the climax of this history.
